HomeIt seems that most people believe in mind control because they are either scared of it and repulsed, or scared of it and attracted. Some, of course, do not believe at all for whatever reasons. Me? I believe that one person can certainly control another, though as totally as depicted in films would be quite rare. There are those few who are very suggestible, and for one reason or another, lose much of their will to a skillful hypnotist. Sometimes this is all in good safe, sane, consensual fun and sometimes it is the horrific stuff of cruel predation. But, is this really the most frightening type of mind control that occurs? I hardly think so.
Most of us think that we are in control of our thoughts. We may glimpse the truth that we are not in control when we lose our tempers, fall in love, or become temporarily confused, but for the most part we live our lives fully believing in the illusion that we are in charge. Are you in control of your mind? If you are, then it will be easy to think of one solitary thing for ten minutes, won’t it? Go ahead. Pick anything. Anything at all. An apple, a lover, a mountain scene, the taste of chocolate, whatever. Focus on that and ONLY that for just ten minutes. Try with all your might or employ a more relaxed method. Go ahead. I’ll wait.
Could you do it? Bravo if you could.
Now, if you think because you could do that that you are in control of your own mind, next try to think of nothing at all for another ten minutes. If you can pull this off you are most extraordinary. Remember, no thoughts of any kind whatsoever. Nothing. Empty mind.
So, if you had thoughts you did not wish to have, who was in control of your mind? You already have the answer, by the way. It’s just not what you think. Literally.
The very reason that one person can control the mind of another is because the mind is so difficult to control, not because it is so easy.
