I had trouble with some of the visualizations. I still do. I don’t remember dreams very well and I rarely dream in color. I wanted it to be like watching TV. It is not for me.

It's not usually for me either. It's more that I feel the reactions I would feel if I could see those things clearly. Every now and then it's pretty vivid, but usually it's because I have seen the thing being described a number of times.

Thanks for the suggestions and for sharing your experiences :)

It took me 3 or 4 months before I responded and went into deep trance. It was frustrating. I thought I would list somethings that helped me. Hopefully it will help others.

Trust is huge. If that is not there I don't think it will happen.

My biggest problems were over-analyzing, expecting certain things to happen and random thoughts.

After months of listening I finally got bored analyzing things. It sucks it took me so long, but maybe that is what it takes for some people.

I put random thoughts on a mental post it note. I give myself permission to go back and read the note after the trance. This helps me let go. Knowing I can come back to thought. Interestingly enough I rarely go back to it. Usually they are not important.

In the beginning I was very frustrated which made things worse. I finally came to the realization that it didn't matter how deep the trance was, or to what extent I felt it. The very worst trance session I ever had was good. I felt relaxed and calm. Not such a bad thing. In fact that is a good thing. I kind of taken the attitude there are no bad trances. Just some are better than others. What more can you expect anyway.

I had trouble with some of the visualizations. I still do. I don't remember dreams very well and I rarely dream in color. I wanted it to be like watching TV. It is not for me. Once I let go of that I made a lot of progress. I now approach it like I am reading a book, or listening to someone read a book. I now realize that when I have read books in the past I have been in a trance. Still happens. So now I just listen to the story. Such a deal. Lady Julia reading me a bedtime story. :-) Sometimes the images are clear sometimes they are not. It doesn't matter. Sometimes I enjoy the story. Sometimes I really really really enjoy the story. Again not such a bad deal. Recently I took part in an on-line text trance session in TCOD. Basically it was reading suggestions in a chat room. I could not believe how well I responded. I am beginning to think I respond to text better than spoken words. Something new to try, yummy.

I also tend to have good trance sessions after a yoga session. I start out more relaxed.

I hope this helps. I know it can be frustrating. I would recommend checking the "The Circle of Dreams" (TCOD) yahoo group. The link is on Lady Julia's Entranced Realm site. There are some smart people there with good advice.
